Cinema Fordini

Every summer we have outdoor movies at our house. My husband is a huge movie buff. I have been  forced to preview so many movies. I am not really a movie fanatic, but because of my interest in photography, I see movies in a new light, literally. The lighting and cinematography in general, is what really is of interest to me when I watch a movie.

What the cinematographer decides to include in the frame or what to not include, is very important in the telling of the story. It is the same in photography. In the picture to the right, I asked my husband to stand in front of this  puppet theater that he made for the kids when they were little. It is now being used as sort of a "Now Playing" sign for the movie we are showing on movie night. I asked him to look upward to suggest the almost religious feeling he has toward movies. He added the outstretched hands. That positioning of the body, the tilt of the frame,  and the white lights,  worked for me. It nailed the look I was going for; over the top devotion to movies and to sharing his love of them with others.

Would you like to come to one of our movie nights? Everyone one is welcome. The next one is Friday, August 8 at 7pm, unless it rains. The Movie is, A Thousand Clowns. Bring a side dish or dessert to share. We eat first. The pool is available for swimming before or even during the movie. Message me if you are interested.

    Ann-Marie Ford

After 31 years of teaching, I have decided to retire and start a new chapter of my life as a photographer. It has been my passion for about 7 years now.
